Teaching Philosophy

Teaching Philosophy

Teach only what is actionable

(No “Woo” policy)

Have them do the work as much as possible

Give uplifting and actionable critiques of the work

Teach guidelines, not rules

I am not the end-all-be-all authority

What I know is not permeant

(Even the basics are in flux)

Be passionately engaged with the work/concepts, and display passion, love, and vulnerability for the subject matter

ART is an evolving, living thing

I am continually inspired by Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed

I try to create dialogue as an act of “love, humility, and faith” in humanity

I use reflection as a critical learning tool within the group

(The artist does that reflection and is NOT a group critique)
